The intricate worldbuilding in Tower of God Season 2 continues to make the series compelling, though it struggles to capture the depth of the original webtoon. Important elements like the significance of the flower, the scandal involving the Yeon family, and Yuri’s connection to these events are only briefly mentioned, missing some of the nuance that enriches the story.

Nonetheless, Tower of God Season 2 remains engaging as each episode brings the characters closer to their ultimate goal. With FUG temporarily withdrawing from Viole and his new team, they now face the daunting task of climbing the Tower and reaching the 30th floor within two years. To achieve this, they need to strengthen their abilities, as the previous test highlighted their lack of skills and training, with Viole taking the brunt of the damage.

A High-Stakes Encounter: Bam/Viole vs. Urek Mazino

The highlight of Episode 7 was undeniably the confrontation between Bam, now known as Viole, and Urek Mazino. This highly anticipated encounter was not just about the clash of power but also the deeper revelations about both characters. Up until this point, Viole had been portrayed as an incredibly strong character, admired by both the other characters and the viewers.

This perception was evident when Wangnan’s opponents forfeited the test, leading them to their current predicament. The fight came to an abrupt end when Bam took a hit from Mazino to protect Miseng, who had inadvertently stumbled into the fray while chasing the Zygaena baby.

Bam’s choice to protect Miseng was a significant moment. Despite the immense pressure from FUG and the weight of his new identity as Viole, his decision showed that Bam remains the kind-hearted and protective person he has always been, even after the betrayal by Rachel.

The episode begins with Viole facing his strongest opponent yet, Urek Mazino. For those unfamiliar, Mazino is one of the most powerful, if not the most powerful, characters in the Tower after Zahard. Unfortunately for Viole, he encounters Mazino at a relatively low level, putting him in a precarious situation.

However, Mazino isn’t immediately hostile toward Viole. Instead, he adopts a playful demeanor, challenging Viole to a game. The terms are simple: if Viole can reach the Zygaena flower first, he can keep it. But if Mazino catches him before that, Viole’s life will belong to Mazino.

This segment is incredibly intense, showcasing what it means to be one of the strongest in the Tower. Mazino remains completely untouchable, and the situation could have escalated significantly had Miseng not been involved. How a child like Miseng manages to influence the outcome in such an unexpected way is something viewers will have to watch to believe.

Following this encounter, Wangnan and the others are faced with a difficult decision: should they continue to stay by Viole’s side? In Episode 7 of Tower of God Season 2, the tension escalates as Viole faces off against a high-ranker in a race to reach a special flower. The stakes are high: if Viole reaches the flower first, it’s his, but if the high-ranker catches him, Viole’s life will be forfeit.

As the battle unfolds, Horyang uses the Pocket, a spherical communication device, to coordinate with the rest of the team. He instructs them to meet at a specific location when the Zygaena—a massive sea creature—rotates, allowing them to launch a coordinated attack on the high-ranker and buy time for Viole. Despite their efforts, the high-ranker proves to be far stronger than they anticipated.

Just as Viole and the high-ranker are about to clash, Misaeng unexpectedly appears, chasing a creature with the flower on its back. To protect her, Viole takes a direct hit, falling unconscious. Surprisingly, the high-ranker allows them to take the flower and the creature. He is later revealed to be Urek Mazino, an irregular and one of the strongest Rankers, ranked 4th in the Tower. Despite attempts by the test instructors to stop him, Mazino remains unstoppable. Meanwhile, Viole mysteriously heals from his injuries but remains unconscious.

It’s later revealed that the flower is the source of a rare jewel, and the creature carrying it is a Zygaena’s baby. The Yeon family, known for their connection to the Zygaena, has been secretly eliminating these babies because they feed on the flowers, reducing the jewel’s value.
